HOW SOSRC USES SERVICE USER INFORMATION
SOS Rape Crisis provides information and support services for anyone who has been sexually abused or raped, or who have been affected by sexual violence at any time in their lives.
Storage and disposal of all data and information are undertaken securely at SOS Rape Crisis, and any personal information stored can be accessed at any time.
SOS Rape Crisis has clear procedures in regard to Data Protection and Confidentiality and both policies are available below.
Any requests from other agencies or services for information held by SOS Rape Crisis relating to service users will be dealt with securely and will be with the full consent of the service user only. Only details relating to the stated enquiry will be shared. Discretion and sensitivity are exercised by staff at all times and service users will be informed of any details discussed.
It is SOS Rape Crisis policy to comply with information requests from the Police, Crown Prosecution Service or Courts unless the request will be detrimental to well-being.
Only anonymised statistical data will be used for research and publication purposes.

SOS Rape Crisis policy is not to provide support to people who disclose, or have been accused of or investigated for sexual or violent offences. However, in exceptional circumstances, the centre may decide to offer support to clients who fall into this category. Decisions on whether support will be offered will be made on a case-by-case basis, and will be at the discretion of the centre.
